Materials Coordinator at Medical Device Start-up Worcester/Westborough: Locals only!

This medical device start up is beginning their ramp up of a revolutionary product.  This materials position offers a phenomenal opportunity to get in on the ground floor and grow.    My client is hiring the 2nd person in materials.  This means you will be very hands on and will do a bit of everything and anything in materials to support an operation that is going to see dynamic, rapid growth. 

Materials Coordinator

You will perform multiple roles at various levels of responsibility. The Materials Coordinator will support the Materials Manager in all aspects of the department's requirements, including but not limited to:  planning, purchasing, inventory, warehousing, ERP implementation and logistics.  You will do a bit of everything and anything in materials to support an operation with extreme ramp up to hi-volume manufacturing. 

Responsibilities include:

• Interface with all departments to ensure that all purchasing requests are satisfied and open orders monitored and that all material requisitions are issued and documented accurately and timely


• Provide material status reports to the production review meetings and assist in developing schedule alternatives and adjustments where needed


• Ensure inventory levels are maintained to support the Master Build Plan and identify key shortages and place orders\expedite as necessary     


• Maintain supplier performance metrics and ratings once established


• Maintain relevant data in the ERP system item master to include lead-time, order policy, safety stock, minimums, multiples, order quantity, safety offset, and other order modifiers - assist in the set-up of the same during the implementation of the ERP system currently in process (QAD) - assist in other areas of the ERP implementation as necessary


• Manage accounts payable issues with assigned suppliers; engage in resolution actions as directed


•  Manage the materials handling functions and ensure material availability on the production floor to meet production requirements and the production floor material storage requirements.


• Manage the stockroom; maintain inventory accuracy and issue all material requisitions once approved

Minimum Skills Required:

• Bachelor's degree


• 5+ years hands on buying and planning and materials experience in a start up


• Knowledge of purchasing and planning ERP principles and processes


• Track record in a materials role of leading and delivering sustainable, measurable improvements at a manufacturing start up


• Proficient in various MS Office applications


• Self Starter with the proven ability to identify the need to change and make the change happen.   Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of concurrent tasks with minimal direction to meet challenging goals.   Excellent multi-tasking skills

Salary:  $55-65K with some participation in the company
