I
happened upon a site today that takes some of the mystery out of the
job search by empowering job seekers with their own form of metrics.

ResumeBear
is a service that offers a comprehensive resume tracking system for job
seekers, allowing them to see which recipients opened their resume,
when it was viewed, and for how long. It also lets you see which
formats are being opened the most so you can refine future campaigns.

Job seekers can create a resume using a variety of tools and formats
on the site. Or they can upload their own resume, whether it be
hand-crafted or written by a professional. They offer three levels of
resume creation: Direct Resume Upload, Create Resume Manually and
Resume Creation Wizard.

Once activated, the ResumeBear dashboard lets job seekers track the
path of their resume in real time to see who opened, printed, or
deleted it. Users can also opt to get alerts via SMS or email.

Job seekers can sign up for free on the site, but I am guessing that
although I couldn't find a price list, the full range of services are
subscription-based.

Good stuff. There is also a new site that just launched that does this, and more. It is http://www.myjobcast.com. With the job market the way it is now, providing the ability to track and analyze sent resumes is a great concept.
